Does EMECO use, retain or disclose personal information on radiological images?
In the course of carrying on our business of disposing radiological images, EMECO does come into contact with images that contain personal information about a variety of individuals. Under privacy law, personal information is information that may be used to identify a specific individual and examples include the name, age and information related to an individual’s health or health care history. Sometimes personal information is recorded on radiological images, however EMECO does not use, retain or disclose personal information recorded on any radiological image for any purpose.
How Does EMECO Protect Personal Information?
Keeping personal information confidential and secure is a priority for us. We ensure that all radiological images are handled and destroyed in a manner that protects the privacy of the individual the information is about. We have implemented security procedures to safeguard and protect personal information against loss, theft, unauthorized disclosure, copying, and unauthorized use or modification, including:
• Transporting all radiological images in a secure manner;
• Storing radiological images in designated premises with physical safeguards and limited access;
• Destroying radiological images by authorized personnel aware of the confidential nature of the personal information; and
• Compulsory employee orientation regarding the confidential nature of all radiological images and other documents.
Who is Responsible for Privacy Compliance?
EMECO is responsible for protecting the personal information under its control and has designated a Privacy Officer who is accountable for EMECO's compliance with this Privacy Statement and our Privacy Policy.

In order to ensure that our Privacy Policy is kept up to date, we reserve the right to change it from time to time.
